Conspiracy Theories Abound
What makes for a great conspiracy theory? Ever thought about that? A conspiracy, like a good mystery novel, must be compelling, intriguing and have some degree of believability. Oh yes, it must also be unproven, hence a theory.
The story line and cast of characters changes with each story but the underlying motivations of the supposed conspirators remain the same. Power, control, greed, jealousy and hatred, the dark side of human nature drives the story line.
In the midst of COVID-19 theories abound. For example: This virus is a Chinese bioweapon unleashed to destroy the US economy. Another theory claims a vaccine for the virus is available, but governments refuse to release it. They’re using this opportunity to control world population. Both meet the criteria for a conspiracy, and both are unproven, just theory.
However, cleverly hidden among the many conspiracy theories, there is one that is not theoretical. The leading character has never changed even though the conspiracy’s origin can be traced back some six thousand years. The motivation has never changed either and it’s the most destructive conspiracy ever devised.
This conspiracy is diabolical. The perpetrator is a serial killer and the master of deception. His power is not even his own, it’s derived from his victims, those who have been deceived into believing his fundamental lie. The lie that through human reason and logic, mankind can uncover the truth without knowing the One who is the source of truth. His deception has worked. Those who believe themselves to be wise are the most easily deceived, often mocking and dismissing the conspiracy as utter foolishness.
A conspiracy is being perpetuated upon the people of this earth. Its leading character roams the earth seeking whom he may devour. His victims are used like pawns on a chess board to destroy families, corrupt governments, indoctrinate children and infect the church with a doctrinal virus that nullifies its power. His desire is and always has been to steal, kill and destroy the lives of his arch enemy’s beloved children. And the Coronavirus, it is all his doing.
The good news is that this perpetrator’s fate was sealed two thousand years ago. The not so good news is that while the battle rages on, many are still fighting with the pawns on the board instead of waging war against the perpetrator. Ephesians 6:12. Yes, we must stand against those who are being used by this evil schemer. But let’s remember, they are not the real enemy. Willing or not, they are his victims.
In this battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, people are rising to the occasion. Even those we have considered opponents in the war between good and evil are joined with us in this fight. Most certainly, what the devil meant for evil, God will turn to good. Unknowingly, the perpetrator of this deadly virus has just set the stage for another Great Awakening.
And many will come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
