Secretariat
With Otto Thorwarth
Have you ever noticed that God seldom shows us the end from the beginning? I believe He wants us to trust and allow Him to lead one step at a time. Some call that a walk of faith.
I have heard much said about the importance of having a vision for the future. And I would agree with that at least in part. However, the older I get, the more I realize that vain imaginations can easily move us off course.
It’s so important to let God order our footsteps and see what He has in mind. Seldom does the path we envisioned look anything like the path we actually travel.
Otto Thorwarth, has experienced just that. You may not recognize his name, but I would guess most of you have watched the blockbuster movie he was in. If someone would have told Otto that he would be playing the role of the jockey, Ronnie Turcotte, in Disney’s “Secretariat ” alongside Diane Lane, John Malkovich and others, I’m sure he would have laughed.
Well, Otto is a real-life jockey, now retired, with many titles and over 1800 wins. As it turned out, he was exactly what the casting director of “Secretariat,” was looking for. But there is much more to his story than riding a horse in a movie, much more!
Listen as Otto shares his story on the Family and Stories podcast, entitled, “Secretariat” with Otto Thorwarth.
Be looking for his book, No Ordinary Champion to be released soon.
God bless you,
Grandpa Jimmy
